What you will learn:

The web-based Interagency Fuels Treatment Decision Support System (IFTDSS) was designed to provide fire and fuels managers with a single software solution to manage the many data types, software applications, and tools available for fuels treatment planning.

The IFTDSS project was initiated in 2007 by the Joint Fire Science Program (JFSP) and the National Interagency Fuels Coordination Group, who saw a need for a user-friendly, web-based decision support system to address the proliferation of software tools and systems in the fire and fuels treatment domain. Sonoma Technology, Inc., is currently developing the IFTDSS in collaboration with the JFSP and a set of field-level fuels specialists. A beta version of the IFTDSS system that includes basic fire behavior and fire effects functionality was released in February 2011 and is currently in review by a test-user group of fuels specialists and fire managers. This webinar will provide an introduction to the IFTDSS and will discuss the workflow scenarios that have been developed to address common goals and objectives in fuels treatment planning. In a live, online demonstration of the IFTDSS system, webinar participants will be shown the functionality that is currently implemented in the system and will see examples of ways to use the system to support fuels treatment decisions.
